Goals of Maasai Girls Education Emancipation (MGEE)

The goal of MGEE in Esilalei is to promote education for Maasai girls by protecting them from early marriage and harmful cultural practices like female genital mutilation (FGM). MGEE empowers girls through education, life skills, and community engagement to ensure they grow up healthy, confident, and able to make their own life choices.

  • Promote Access to Quality Education

    Ensure that every Maasai girl in Esilalei and surrounding communities has access to quality nursery, primary, secondary, and higher education opportunities.

  • Reduce Early Marriages and FGM

    Advocate against harmful cultural practices such as early marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM) by raising awareness and providing safe alternatives through education and community engagement.

  • Empower Girls through Mentorship and Life Skills

    Provide mentorship programs, leadership training, and life skills development to build confidence, self-reliance, and a strong sense of identity among Maasai girls.

  • Strengthen Community Engagement and Support

    Collaborate with parents, elders, local leaders, and stakeholders to create a supportive environment that values and promotes girls' education and their rights.

  • Create Safe Learning Spaces

    Establish safe and girl-friendly learning environments, including dormitories or safe houses for at-risk girls, to ensure their physical and emotional well-being.

  • Support Academic and Vocational Development

    Offer scholarships, school supplies, and vocational training to support academic success and prepare girls for employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

  • Preserve Culture while Promoting Progress

    Encourage cultural pride and identity while advocating for progressive change that empowers girls and protects their rights within the Maasai community.

  • Monitor and Evaluate Impact

    Regularly assess program effectiveness, track beneficiaries' progress, and adjust strategies to ensure long-term sustainability and positive community impact.
